Cheetah

A cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large feline native to Africa and central Iran. It is the fastest land animal, capable of reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in short bursts. 🐆

Physical Description

Cheetahs have a slender, graceful body with a long, flexible spine and long legs. Their coat is a golden-tan color with a pattern of solid black spots. They have a small, rounded head with a short snout and a pair of distinctive black "tear" marks that run from the corner of their eyes down to the side of their nose.

Habitat and Diet

Cheetahs are found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, and open woodlands. They are carnivores and their diet consists of a wide variety of small- to medium-sized mammals, including gazelles, impalas, and hares.

Behavior and Hunting

Cheetahs are a solitary species. They are a diurnal hunter, meaning they are most active during the day. They use their incredible speed to chase down their prey, and while they can reach incredible speeds, they can only maintain that speed for a short period of time.
