Leopard

A leopard (Panthera pardus) is a large, powerful wild cat native to Africa and Asia. It is known for its beautiful, spotted coat, stealthy nature, and exceptional climbing ability. 🐾

Physical Description

Leopards have a sleek, muscular body with a short tail. Their coat is a pale yellow to a deep gold color, covered in a pattern of solid black spots and rosettes. Their pattern is unique to each individual. Their legs are relatively short, but their bodies are long and their skulls are large with powerful jaw muscles.

Habitat and Diet

Leopards are highly adaptable and are found in a wide variety of habitats, including rainforests, savannas, mountains, and deserts. They are solitary and nocturnal carnivores that hunt a variety of prey, from small rodents and birds to larger animals like gazelles and antelopes.

Behavior

Leopards are one of the most secretive and elusive of the big cats. They are also known for their incredible strength and their habit of dragging their kills up into a tree to keep them safe from other predators, such as lions and hyenas. They are excellent climbers, and their long, heavy tail helps them to balance.
